ST⛔P indecision about Decision Intelligence and START your first project today.
I have already published many posts on #decisionintelligence, and there are many other thought leader posts on why it is important. But almost none on how to start a decision intelligence project today. I decided to give you a quick guide on how to start your DI project today and answer all your questions.
✨There are only three simple steps that you need to take.
Step 1️⃣: Frame Business Decision #decisioncentric
As you see from the name, “Decision Intelligence” starts with “Decision”. Therefore, you need to start with a business decision:
– Pick any business decisions that you like.
– Decompose it into smaller decision units
– Identify the dependencies between the decision units
– Determine the inputs to the decision units
Completing this step will create a hierarchical Decision Graph that represents a holistic view of a complex business decision.
Step 2️⃣: Dash of Intelligence
You have established the blueprint of the business decision in the first step; now, let's start the work:
– Pick a decision unit from the above graph
– Determine what type of decision it is (probabilistic vs deterministic)
– Select the right technique for the decision units based on its type: #rules #ai #machinelearning #data #optimization
– Implement the decision unit using the chosen technique
Once all decision units are implemented, the Decision Graph does its magic and coordinates between them. It passes the outcome of one to another, and creates the final outcomes.
Step 3️⃣: Orchestrate
At this point, you have the fully functional Decision Graph with all its decision units implemented. Now what? Remember, in the first step, we determined the inputs for the decision units, so create an orchestration model to finish up the work:
– The orchestration goes ahead and collects required data from systems, processes
– Shapes and restructures the data to the fors that decision units needed
– passes the data as input to the decision graph for execution
The decision outcomes should not be left unactioned. Ensure the orchestration model collects the outcomes and integrates them into your organization's systems, processes, and databases.
